Former Meta Executive Joins CyrusOne to Lead US Operations

CyrusOne has appointed Bob Hennegan as Senior Vice President for US Operations. The move comes as the data centre platform looks to scale its portfolio while maintaining performance standards across mission-critical infrastructure.
Bob joins from Meta, where he served as Vice President for Global Data Center Facility Operations. His experience includes oversight of one of the world's largest data centre organisations and a military career as a Rear Admiral in the United States Navy.
In his new role, Bob will oversee performance, reliability and scalability across CyrusOne's US data centre operations. He will focus on operational consistency as the company's estate expands.
Leadership for accelerating demand
Data centre operators face mounting pressure to expand capacity while maintaining the standards customers require. As demand for digital infrastructure accelerates, operators are placing greater emphasis on operational leadership.
Building new facilities quickly is often the focus for data centre companies. However, ensuring those facilities can be run efficiently and reliably could mean considering operational requirements at design stage.
Bob's experience managing large, complex organisations forms part of that strategy. His background spans hyperscale facilities and military operations, where accountability and operational discipline were critical.
Rob Johnson, Chief Business Officer at CyrusOne, says: "CyrusOne is entering a new phase of growth as customer demand accelerates, and our platform continues to scale. Delivering at this level requires operational excellence, disciplined execution and leadership that understands mission-critical environments.
"Bob brings all of that, along with a proven ability to lead complex organisations and build high-performing teams. We're excited to welcome him to CyrusOne."
Operational consistency across growth
The appointment demonstrates CyrusOne's focus on strengthening operational foundations required to support expansion. As the company enters what Johnson describes as a new phase of growth, leadership with experience in complex environments may support its ability to scale without compromising uptime or efficiency.
Throughout his career, Bob has built and led teams responsible for complex operations. CyrusOne believes this experience will support its continued expansion across the US market.
Before joining Meta, Bob led large-scale organisations in demanding environments during his naval service. His combination of military leadership and hyperscale data centre experience aligns with the challenges facing operators today as they seek to grow without compromising customer service.
Building for scale
Bob's focus will include operational consistency across CyrusOne's expanding estate. As the company's portfolio continues to grow, maintaining performance and reliability standards across multiple facilities could require disciplined execution.
"The opportunity ahead is significant, and I am looking forward to the challenge," says Bob Hennegan. "CyrusOne has built a strong foundation and a strong team. I look forward to leading the drive for excellence and efficiency in safe and reliable data centre operations."
The answer to keeping a rapidly expanding data centre platform running smoothly could lie in leadership with experience spanning hyperscale facilities and military operations.
For CyrusOne, that means bringing in one of the industry's most experienced operations leaders into a role focused on maintaining performance as its portfolio continues to grow.
