How Muntersâs New CEO Will Drive Innovation Goals
CEO of Munters Group AB Klas Forsström is stepping down as President and CEO after seven years, with the Board of Directors announcing Stefan Aspman as his successor.
Stefan leaves his role as President of Data Center Technologies to take on the CEO title, while Klas will remain with Munters in an advisory capacity until the end of 2026, to ensure a smooth transition in the companyâs leadership.
Klas will officially step down from the President and CEO position in October 2026.
Discussing his departure and the appointment of Stefan, he says: âAfter seven years as CEO, it is now the right time for this transition. I am proud of what we have achieved together and am confident that we are poised for even stronger results going forward.
âI am excited about the appointment of Stefan to succeed me and I look forward to supporting the transition during my remaining time with Munters.â
Munters provides climate control technology solutions for mission-critical processes around the world.
The company offers innovative technologies like digitisation, AI and decarbonisation for industrial and agricultural applications.
Muntersâs solutions help customers in the energy, pharmaceutical and food production industry, as well as other sectors where precise control of temperature and air quality are essential.
Informing future operations
Klas has acted as President and CEO since 2019 and has been a driving force behind the companyâs goal to become a global leader in energy-efficient air treatment and climate solutions.
With a background in industrial engineering and corporate leadership, he has helped the company deliver solutions to multiple industries, while conducting talent-acquisition and growth strategies to enhance the companyâs leadership in the climate solutions market.
Klas has overseen several innovative company development projects during his tenure, such as the awarding of a SEK 750m (US$80.7m) loan from financial institution NIB to fund Muntersâs digitisation research and development plan, and the launch of the AirC control platform, an intuitive and digitised climate monitoring system.
Magnus Nicolin, Chairman of the Board of Directors for Munters, says: âOver the past seven years, [Klas] has led a transformation of the company, establishing a clear organisation structure, secured strong talent and succession capabilities and created an innovation engine.
âDuring this time, Munters has more than doubled in size, with net sales growing from approximately SEK 7bn (US$753m) to over SEK 15bn (US$1.61bn).â
As Klaus leaves the position, the foundations he laid out during his time as CEO will continue to inform the companyâs future direction, such as the goal to double Munters in size while halving its carbon footprint by 2030.
New leadership during rapid growth
Prior to joining Munters in 2021, Stefan spent 11 years at the engineering company Sanvik, working in several senior leadership roles across finances and commercial and technical functions.
Prior to his role as President of Data Center Technologies at Munters, Stefan acted as Group Vice President of Commercial Excellence, where he was responsible for commercial development, group strategic marketing and communications.
He also played a key role in strengthening Muntersâs commercial operating models.
Speaking about Stefan’s new role, Magnus says: “Stefan brings the ideal combination of financial acumen and operational expertise and has been a key contributor to the strategies that have transformed Munters.
“With his proven track record in leading this strategically important and rapidly growing business area, the Board is confident that Stefan is the right person to lead Munters into its next phase of growth.”
“I am grateful for the trust the Board has placed in me,” Stefan adds. “Over the past five years, I have been fortunate to be part of Munters development, as the company has scaled and strengthened into a more wellârounded organisation with broader exposure to highâpotential segments and markets.”
