Cushman & Wakefield names Stephanie Greene as its new Chief Sustainability Officer, leading climate action under the company's global CEO Michelle MacKay

Cushman & Wakefield has appointed Stephanie Greene as Chief Sustainability Officer and Global Head of Sustainability Services.

The firm operates across 60 countries with 52,000 employees.

Stephanie has more than 20 years of experience across real estate, energy and sustainability.

Career foundations and early roles

Stephanie earned a degree in Earth Systems, Environmental Science, Economics and Policy from Stanford University. She began her career at BSR as an Associate for Advisory Services.

At BSR, she developed skills in ESG management. She worked with Fortune 500 companies to develop corporate sustainability strategies.

In 2012, Stephanie joined Pacific Gas and Electric Company. Her work focused on electric vehicles, renewable energy, energy policy and planning.

She became a Director for Electric Vehicles Strategy and Policy. She also held the position of Director for Energy Procurement.

After seven years at Pacific Gas and Electric Company, Stephanie joined RMI. She focused on building electrification and carbon-free buildings.

She led a 70-person carbon-free buildings team. The team worked on policy, electrification, retrofit acceleration and portfolio solutions.

Stephanie joined CBRE in 2023. She held the role of Global Head of Sustainability Advisory - Senior Managing Director until December 2025.

She built and scaled a revenue-generating advisory platform at CBRE. Her work focused on translating sustainability goals into operational outcomes.

Announcing the move on LinkedIn, Stephanie said: "I'm thrilled to share that I've joined Cushman & Wakefield as Chief Sustainability Officer and Global Head of Sustainability Services. After two decades at the intersection of real estate, energy and sustainability, I've come to believe that the firms with the greatest ability to move the needle on climate and sustainability are those that can translate ambitious goals into execution at scale, and that's exactly what drew me to this role."

She will lead the firm's global sustainability strategy and consulting platform. She will also partner with occupiers and investors to enhance operational performance, resilience and long-term value across real estate portfolios.

Stephanie will also guide Cushman & Wakefield's enterprise-wide sustainability initiatives. Discussing the appointment, she says: "I'm energised by this unique opportunity to drive value for our occupier and investor clients."

Executive leadership structure

Stephanie will report to Cushman & Wakefield's CEO, Michelle MacKay. Michelle oversees the global business and all its operations.

Michelle previously served as President and Chief Operating Officer. She led the firm's EMEA region before her promotion.

She has previously worked at iStar, UBS, JP Morgan and The Hartford Financial Services Group. Michelle first joined Cushman & Wakefield in 2018 as a member of its Board of Directors.

Michelle has more than 30 years of experience as a commercial real estate executive. Her expertise includes unlocking value for real estate assets and companies.

Upon her appointment to CEO in 2023, Michelle said: "I'm looking forward to leading this great firm through its next chapter of strategic growth.
