Inside LâOrĂ©alâs New Growth-Driven Leadership Changes

L’Oréal has made multiple changes to the Group’s Executive Committee, including the introduction of a new “highly strategic role”.
Alexis Perakis-Valat, current President of the company’s Consumer Products Division, will be appointed CEO of L’Oréal USA and President of North America, after being a major contributor to the company’s global success.
A newly created role, Chairman of L’Oréal USA, will be taken by David Greenberg, current CEO of L’Oréal USA and President of North America Zone, who has served the brand for over 30 years.
Why is Alexis the new CEO?
Playing a pivotal role in L’Oréal’s global success, Alexis has demonstrated impactful leadership across key international markets since joining the company in 1994.
As Country Manager in China, he doubled the business and spearheaded its digital and e-commerce transformation. Joining the Exec Committee in 2013, he continued to drive growth as President for Asia Pacific.
Since taking over the Consumer Products Division in 2016, he has transformed it into what L’Oréal describes as a “global powerhouse” - expanding its reach to over one billion customers and assisting sales growth from €12bn (US$14.02bn) to €16bn (US$18.69bn).
Commenting on his appointment, Nicolas Hieronimus, CEO of L’Oréal Group, says: “Alexis’s career is a testament to transformative leadership and strategic acumen.
“Since 2016, his vision and drive have fundamentally reshaped our Consumer Products Division, democratising beauty, accelerating growth, and igniting double-digit acceleration in Emerging Markets.”
He added: “His unwavering commitment to brand equity, innovation, and sales and marketing excellence, makes him the perfect choice to lead the L’Oréal USA and North America business to new heights.”
Growing the exec committee
Davidâs appointment as Chairman of LâOrĂ©al USA comes at a key moment for the Group as it looks to sharpen its focus on long-term growth and influence in its largest market.
In this newly established role, David will act as a senior representative to major institutional stakeholders, which LâOrĂ©al says will strengthen its reputation and support its continued success across US markets.
With over three decades at the company, his leadership was key in making US LâOrĂ©al the top growth driver for three years running, and in achieving key milestones such as surpassing âŹ10bn (US$11.68bn) in North America sales.
LâOrĂ©al says he also played a central role in the success of brands such as NYX Professional Makeup, Essie and ColourWow, while overseeing major infrastructure projects including the new research hub in New Jersey.
Discussing the new role, Nicolas says: âDavidâs transformative leadership as CEO of LâOrĂ©al USA and President of North America, has been truly exceptional, marked by outstanding business results, a keen eye for emerging trends and a passion for his people.
âThis newly created role of Chairman of LâOrĂ©al USA underscores the strategic importance of the US market for our future growth.
âDavid is uniquely positioned to take on this role, having consistently reinforced our beauty industry leadership, through engaging with key Public Affairs stakeholders and his recent tenure as Board Chair of PCPC.â
More committee reshuffling
In total, LâOrĂ©al has announced four additional executive appointments throughout the company, which will all become effective 1 January 2026. The appointees are:
- Fabrice Megarbane, current Chief Global Growth Officer (CGGO), will become the President of the Consumer Products Division
- Vianney Dervile, most recently President of Europe, will succeed Fabrice as the CGGO
- Emmanuel Goulin, current President of Travel Retail, will take the role of President of Europe
- Eva Yu, current President and Managing Director of LâOrĂ©al Hong Kong, will succeed Emmanuel as President of Travel Retail and join the Groupâs Extended Executive Committee
These leadership changes reflect L’Oréal’s sharpened focus on long-term growth, reinforcing its strategic ambition to lead the global beauty market through innovation, market proximity, and organisational agility.
By appointing proven leaders and introducing a more nuanced governance structure, L’Oréal is reinforcing its market proposition on a global scale to stay ahead in the competitive landscape.
