Former Sellafield sustainability chief Eirini Etoimou launches platform to help organisations measure sustainable ROI beyond compliance requirements

Former Sellafield Ltd Head of Corporate Sustainability & Supply Chain Development Eirini Etoimou has taken on the role of Managing Director at Sustainable Mindset, a newly launched platform aimed at helping organisations measure and deliver sustainable returns on investment.

The move represents a transition from Eirini's previous position at Sellafield, where she was responsible for operationalising sustainability initiatives within an organisation dedicated to creating a clean and safe environment for future generations.

Understanding Sustainable Mindset's mission

Sustainable Mindset presents itself as a solution for organisations looking to move beyond mere regulatory compliance towards proactive sustainability measures.

Eirini says: "This venture formalises my commitment to driving auditable, long-term Sustainable Return on Investment (S-ROI) for leaders at all levels, and organisations of all sizes and geography, who dare to go beyond compliance."

The platform's core mission focuses on demystifying sustainability by cutting through what it characterises as myths, greenwashing and superficial narratives.

It seeks to equip professionals, leaders and policymakers with actionable knowledge and frameworks to integrate sustainability at individual, organisational and systemic levels.

A four-stream operational framework

The platform functions through four distinct streams: Strategic Value Integration advisory services, a mentoring and fellowship programme, a learning hub and a community platform.

The advisory division addresses corporate sustainability and ESG strategy, including materiality assessments, UN SDGs alignment and purpose roadmap development.

It also encompasses sustainable supply chain management, ethical sourcing frameworks and supplier due diligence, all drawing on the expertise that Eirini has accumulated throughout her career.

The mentoring programme is designed to connect mid-to-senior sustainability professionals with students and early-career changemakers aged 18 to 30, offering one-on-one mentoring and monthly group sessions.

Fellowship tracks in areas including youth systems change, climate leadership and sustainable business innovation are in development.

Integrated sustainable impact model

At the heart of the new venture sits the Integrated Sustainable Impact Model, which Eirini describes as a holistic solution scalable across industries and geographies. The model aims to quantify value created across internal operations and external ecosystems, from supply chains to regulators.

"It equips them to quantify the value created across their internal operations and essential external ecosystem (from supply chain to regulators), ensuring that their unified commitment translates into auditable, long-term Sustainable Return on Investment (S-ROI)," she explains.

The framework addresses what Eirini identifies as a broader challenge within the sector. During her time at Sellafield, she observed that environmental priorities tend to be easier to visualise than socio-economic considerations, which require equal attention as businesses move toward what she termed "Industry 5.0" and greater social consciousness.

Merging conviction with quantification

Eirini's approach to sustainability reflects her conviction that ethical principles need the support of hard statistics.

"I have seen first-hand how positive cultural alignment creates small (and bigger) miracles, but I also know that ethical conviction requires the power of numbers," she says.

This perspective has been shaped by her extensive background across supply chain, procurement and operations roles in construction, manufacturing, entertainment and consulting sectors.

Her career has been characterised by what she describes as a natural progression from supply chains to sustainable supply chains and eventually to corporate sustainability.

The platform's vision centres on creating what it terms a "Sustainable Future Enterprise" where integrated thinking and quantifiable S-ROI become the foundational standard for long-term sustainable resilience.

This venture formalises my commitment to driving auditable, long-term Sustainable Return on Investment for leaders at all levels, and organisations of all sizes and geography, who dare to go beyond compliance.

Eirini Etoimou, the new Managing Director of Sustainable Mindset

Eirini frames her work through a deeply personal perspective, influenced by those fighting for basic rights and confronting what she views as a value-system crisis.

"This is personal, because the greatest challenges require the greatest care," she adds.

Her commitment extends beyond environmental concerns to encompass human rights, modern slavery and socio-economic impacts.

"I feel that as a minimum, I have the responsibility and obligation to make things happen, because I have the means and I can," she says.
