What is Google CEO Sundar Pichai’s Vision for AI Leadership?

Google has reported its first-ever US$100bn quarter, a landmark achievement that underscores the company’s continued dominance in the technology sector.
Beyond the headline numbers, CEO Sundar Pichai’s leadership stands out as a key driver of the success.
On the Q3 2025 earnings call, Sundar emphasised that Google’s “full-stack approach to AI” is not just a technological bet, it’s a leadership philosophy reshaping every corner of Alphabet’s business.
He said in an accompanying statement: “This was a terrific quarter for Alphabet, driven by double-digit growth across every major part of our business.
“We’re seeing AI now driving real business results across the company. We delivered our first-ever US$100bn quarter.”
Five years ago, Google’s quarterly revenue was US$50bn.
He added: “Our revenue number has doubled since then, and we’re firmly in the generative AI era.
“In parallel, we’ve built for the long term and diversified, with successful businesses in cloud, YouTube and subscriptions.”
The milestone reflects not only market leadership but also a steady, long-term strategy, guided by Sundar’s measured approach.
AI driving revenue
AI is at the heart of the company's growth. In Google Cloud, Sundar highlighted “another great quarter of accelerating growth with AI revenue as a key driver. Cloud backlog grew 46% quarter over quarter to US$155bn.”
The company reports it has signed more large-scale deals than in previous years and continues to deepen enterprise relationships.
Meanwhile, Google Search is experiencing expansion. “AI Overviews drive meaningful query growth,” Sundar said, “and it's particularly encouraging to see the effect was more pronounced with younger people”.
He also explained that “AI Mode is resonating well with users”, stating that in the US the company has seen consistent week-over-week growth in usage and adding “it now has over 75 million daily active uses.”
On the consumer side, subscriptions continue to scale - crossing 300 million paid subscriptions, led by growth in Google One and YouTube Premium.
AI strategy at the core of Google
Sundar’s leadership is perhaps most evident in the company’s commitment to a full-stack AI strategy.
The CEO said: “Our full-stack approach spans AI infrastructure, world-class research including models and tooling, and our products and platforms that bring AI to people everywhere.”
The foundation of this approach lies in Google’s extensive infrastructure, Sundar added: “Our extensive and reliable infrastructure, which powers all of Google’s products, is the foundation of our stack and a key differentiator.”
From the development of purpose-built TPUs to breakthrough models like Gemini and Veo, the strategy demonstrates a disciplined vision for innovation.
Recent research milestones, including the Willow quantum chip and internal Nobel recognitions, further illustrate Sundar’s commitment to technical innovation.

Sundar took the time to reference the important of team and company culture at Google. stating: “The incredible work of our teams is driving momentum across the board, and our leadership in AI positions us so well for the opportunity ahead.
