Why Airbus Veteran Matthieu Louvot Is Named Helicopters CEO

Airbus SE, a leading European multinational aerospace corporation, has announced that Matthieu Louvet will step into the role of CEO of Airbus Helicopters on 1 April 2025.
Currently serving as Executive Vice President of Strategy for Airbus, he will succeed Bruno Even. Airbus says that Bruno has decided to leave the firm to “pursue his next persona and professional objectives”.
Discussing the planned transition in a company announcement on 13 January, Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury said: “I am deeply grateful for Bruno’s leadership at the helm of Airbus Helicopters over the past eight years.
“Under his tenure, the division expanded its product portfolio, transformed its industrial system and has been placed on a sustainable and profitable growth trajectory.”
He added that he respected Bruno’s decision to explore other avenues for the next phase of his career.
Who is Matthieu?
Matthieu started his career in French administration, including as advisor for industry and French Presidency.
But the next CEO is no stranger to the Airbus family. According to his LinkedIn, his experience with the firm started in 2010, when he worked as Director of Strategy and Development for Eurocopter, which became what is now Airbus Helicopter in 2014.
In 2016, he stepped into the role of Executive Vice President of Customer Support and Services for Airbus Helicopter where he led the service business lines of the firm and customer support activities. Three years later, he became Executive Vice-President of Programmes.
Fast-forward to 2024, Matthieu joined Airbus in the position of Executive Vice President of Strategy.
After over seven years in the role, Bruno will be handing over the baton to a seasoned professional company with over two-decades of experience. Matthieu’s replacement is yet to be announced.
Guillame added: “Our teams at Helicopters will benefit from the leadership of Matthieu, whose extensive experience in the helicopter industry and broad knowledge of the division’s operational and strategic priorities will enable a smooth transition.”
I wish him every success in the role and look forward to seeing Airbus Helicopters reach new heights under his lead.
Success at Airbus Helicopters
Throughout 2025, Airbus Helicopters saw several firsts for the company. This included the firm delivering the first H160, a multi-mission aircraft, to Derezona Helicopters in Indonesia, marking the entry of the next-generation rotorcraft into the country and the Southeast Asian energy market, according to the firm.
According to Airbus, this will bolster the operator’s fleet and will be used for offshore energy missions and commercial passenger transportation.
During the company announcement in December 2025, the Vice President Head of Energy, Leasing and Global Accounts at Airbus Helicopters Regis Magnac said: “The H160 represents a true generational leap, built to be efficient, reliable and comfortable workhorse, perfectly suited for the demanding operational requirements of the Indonesian energy sector.”
The aircraft company also announced in December that Spain has placed an order for 100 Airbus helicopters through the Directorate General for Armament and Material (DGAM) of the Ministry of Defence.
This is part of the National Helicopter plan that the Spanish Armed Forces announced in May, aimed at modernising the country’s defence and security assets.
To continue this reach of Airbus Helicopter’s aircraft, Matthieu will be tasked with sustaining growth and partnerships across the globe.
